Walking
While discovering the farm tracks/forest
trails at Aigas or simply taking the time to relax and absorb the peace
and tranquility that this beautiful glen has to offer, the visitor will
be rewarded with frequent sightings of Buzzard, Red Kite, Peregrine
Falcon and Osprey. Aigas is probably one of the best places in Scotland for viewing birds of prey in their natural habitat.
The tallest tree in Britain can be found while walking in nearby Reelig
Glen. Abriachan community wood above Loch Ness also offers a good range
of forest trails with exciting features to keep the family amused..
The annual Glen
Affric Walking Festival (3 days, first week June) is an interesting

For the more adventurous hill walker, several Munros can be found in
the mountains of nearby glens: Affric and Strathfarrar (both have National
Nature Reserve status), Cannich and Strathconon (featured in A Glen

Golf
Aigas is a great base for golfers.

Fishing
There is some limited trout fishing
available at Aigas (River Beauly) a short walk from the holiday cottages.
Further trout and salmon fishing can be arranged by permit on nearby
hill lochs and the River Beauly.
Also on the River Beauly is the ever popular Aigas power station fish
ladder where the salmon can be viewed completing the final leg of
their long homeward journey.
Canoeing
Relaxing canoeing
trips on the River Beauly at Aigas, or on the River Conon, with a
qualified adventure guide can be organised for families/groups through Boots n paddles. Holiday guests are welcome to launch their own canoes. They can also organise a whole range of other relaxing/white
knuckle adventure activities in this locality or other suitable location.

Cycling
There are many quiet roads
and hill tracks ideal for cycling in the area. Cycle hire is available
at Square Wheels bike shop in Strathpeffer. Here you will find a huge variety of mountain bike tracks (30 mins from Aigas). Cannich Campsite in
Strathglass (12 miles from Aigas) also have bikes for hire. Both locations have a variety of
routes ideal for a pleasant day's cycling. Storage of bikes can be arranged at Aigas.
Pony Trekking
Borlum Farm by Drumnadrochit have well-schooled horses for trekking
through magnificent scenery overlooking Loch Ness. Other pony trekking
centres are also within easy reach.
Skiing
The Cairngorms near Aviemore (50 miles drive) has a new vehnicular
mountain railway which can take the winter enthusiast or summer visitor
to the top of the mountain in comfort.
Aonach Mor near Fort William (60 miles drive and adjacent to Ben Nevis)
also offers a year round uplift system and is the most recently developed
ski centre in Britain.
Whisky Distilleries
Glen Ord (7 miles from Aigas) can be visited by prior arrangement
as can Glenmorangie near Tain
Moniack Castle Wineries, also a short drive from Aigas, are well worth
a visit.
Castles
Visit Glen Urquhart Castle (once one of Scotland's largest castles),
and Cawdor Castle with gardens and Fort George
(the mightiest artillery fortification in Britain). Culloden 'the last battle to be fought on British soil' now welcomes visitors with an impressive new modern visitor centre and exciting interactive exhibition.
Traditional Music
Hootananny (Church Street, Inverness) the best pub in the Highlands

The Ceilidh Place, Ullapool is another great venue for traditional
music.
The Ironworks is a new purpose-built music venue which opened in 2006. It is already attracting an exciting variety of bands to Inverness.
Theatre and Cinema
The newly refurbished and enlarged Eden Court, Inverness theatre and cinema, is now the largest Arts Centre in Scotland. It is well worth checking what's on during your stay at Aigas.
